Well, I’m not gonna lie, it was cold. But Melissa and Matt’s big old smiles and completely toasty reception warmed us all up very quickly.

As usual, I met up with “Wedding Coordinator extraordinaire” Christine early at The Boathouse and then headed over to Melissa’s. Her house was so filled with holiday spirit and little ones that I think it really set the tone for a warm (as in the warm and fuzzies) wedding day. A big thanks to Jen Rau who flew all the way in from sunny California to second shoot for me. Laura Nadeau did a stunning job on Melissa!

Check them out:

I loved Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist! It reminded me of how I approach wedding photography.

The film was whimsical, sweet, intimate, sexy, fun and had just a bit of “punk rock” to it. I caught it on my flight back from Sunny LA.

If my wedding photography was a movie, it would look like this. Rent it today and if the CD is out go buy it!

I will be out of the office and in Los Angeles from  1/9-1/18. I will have limited access to my email and voice mail. All emails and voice-mails will be responded to upon my return.

I am going to try my hardest to bring back some sun and warmth for everyone..but can’t promise :)

Farrah and Josh, Angel Oresanz

January 7th, 2009

When I walked into Farrah’s apartment along with Christine(we have a tradition of meeting at the Reception Venue and traveling to where the bride is getting ready), Farrah was riding this great wave of anticipation, excitment and probably a bit of nerves. But what Farrah did great was channel all of that into this super positive energy that never waned the whole day and night. Two of my favorite behind the scenes people made Farrah(already beautiful) look stunning Stacey Pitt andSally Duval.

The day started with a very cool ride in a NYC Vintage Cab as we shot around the streets of Manhattan.

They were married at certainly the most unique place I have ever shot, Angel Oresanz. I love the use of color and potential for truly dramatic imagery. Add to that a wedding guest who did not sit down all night(thank in no small part to great the great DJing by David)  Rachel was on hand to second shoot and got some amazing pictures!!! and Milestone was on hand shooting video.

When I left at the end of the night I thought to myself that Farrah and Josh had nothing short of a magical night.    fj0001.JPG fj0002.JPG fj0003.JPG fj0004.JPG fj00051.JPG fj0006.JPG fj0007.JPG fj0008.JPG fj0009.JPG fj0010.JPG fj0011.JPG fj0012.JPG fj0013.JPG fj0014.JPG fj0015.JPG fj0017.JPG fj0018.JPG fj0019.JPG fj0020.JPG fj0021.JPG fj0016.JPG

Hi Folks,

Check this out. I am featured twice on 201 Bride right now. Annie and Tony’s awesome wedding at possibly my favorite place to shoot, Bonnet Island Estates,  was selected as a featured wedding. And Kaitlin, one of my super cool clients for ‘09, is a guest “reporter.”She is talking about the engagement shoot we did in DUMBO a couple of months ago.

Christina and Ray were married on a stunning day, with great light and of course great happy energy. Once again, I think the wedding was held in part so they could get some cute pictures with their dog (see below) :)

They held their reception at the exclusive Maidstone Club in the Hamptons. Their portraits were held as the sun was setting, which really is as good as it gets. And a big Happy Birthday to Ray’s Mom, whose big day was celebrated at the wedding.

What I love about what I do is the uniqueness of each couple and the special touches each couple brings to their wedding day. I had been looking forward to Courtney and Chris’s wedding for quite some time as they planned their cocktail hour on a NYC Water Taxi. Many of their guests were coming in from out of town and what better way to show them NYC then by boat. It was the first time I had seen the city from the water at night and must say, I consider myself a hardened New Yorker (born and raised)…but I was really diggin it!

After the taxi ride, it was off to Battery Gardens, where I have shot many weddings for a FUN reception (see best-man speech image below):

Welcoming in 2009

January 3rd, 2009

Well that went quick, didn’t it? We are already a week or so into the brand new spankin’ year. I like many of you am glad to put 2008 behind and hope for a year of “Change.” I have several more 2008 weddings to post. I also can’t wait to share all the wonderful KidZ clients I have been shooting lately, plus an announcement or two and hopefully a 2008 Year in Review (but I said I was going to do that last year and didn’t, so I can’t promise). Stay tuned.
